Activities
The training curriculum would cover all the four domains of GLOBE
scientific research (covering both Basic and Advanced Protocols):
 |
Atmosphere: Monitoring cloud type and cloud
cover, air temperature, precipitation and its pH, Ozone, Haze
etc. |
 |
Hydrology: Measuring water transparency,
temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity / salinity,
alkalinity and nitrate-nitrogen of a water body etc. |
 |
Soil: Studying soil profile, measurements
of soil moisture, carbonate content, soil temperature, soil
fertility etc. |
 |
Land Cover: Identifying vegetation, canopy
cover estimation, interpretation of land-sat images etc. The
participants will be trained to take measurement accurately
and precisely, conduct labs, formulate questions, test hypotheses,
and develop theories to make sense of the data. They will use
a variety of scientific instruments, calibrate those instruments,
and try to understand potential sources of error in the measurements
they take with the instruments. Besides, the participants will
be trained to use Internet for environmental research and advance
software. |
