GLOBE-A Meaningful Scientific Project
GLOBE can be an astonishing
scientific experience for your students through participating in
genuine globe research project, as they are direct participants
in real scientific research. They contribute data, which are used
by scientists and they feel the first hand excitement, the rigor
and the challenges of real science.
Here are something by which teachers can make GLOBE
more exciting scientific experience for students
Stress
that the scientists need students data
The GLOBE Program
is unique for the reason that scientists actually use the data collected
by students and by knowing this students will get motivated to put
out the efforts to obtain quality data. Through these activities
the students will learn science and mathematics concepts and skills
as well as the importance of precision and accuracy. This will also
encourage them in pursuing their own scientific investigations.
Personalize
the GLOBE scientists for your students
You can use the photograph of the scientists who designed the investigations,
an interview with the scientists and a personal letter from them
to your students and scientist's corner section in the website to
introduce the scientists to your students on a personal level so
that your students gets inspiration from them and who knows one
of your student might join these scientists in future.
Encourage
students to contact other GLOBE Schools
GLOBE Program provides students with an exciting opportunity to
meet, communicate and even mutually work with other schools all
around the world. Using GLOBE
mail, students can exchange messages with any GLOBE
School and through GLOBE
students data server, students can retrieve data submitted by other
schools all around the world.
Use
GLOBE Telecommunication
Through GLOBE website
students can: obtain bulletins and updates; read background information
regarding the program, the scientists and other schools; submit
the data, examine and retrieve data from other schools, look at
the graphic representations of data etc.
Use
GLOBE Note Book
Encourage your students to keep a GLOBE
science notebook in which students must record their reflections,
ideas, hypotheses, questions, observations and sketches and also
transcribe lab results and data as they progress through their book.
Each entry in the GLOBE
science Notebook should include:
 |
Date |
 |
Location |
 |
Time |
 |
If a field entry, environmental variables such as weather |
 |
Questions, hypotheses, methods, observations, analysis, conclusion,
ideas |
GLOBE Science notebook helps in
 |
Follow student's developing understanding and asses their
learning. |
 |
It can be exchanged among students to learn more and comment.

 |
Drawing and recording in GLOBE
science notebook helps students to focus and magnify their powers
of observation. |
